How name decorations work

A decoration has two parts: symbols on the left and symbols on the right, with your name in the middle. Nothing is an image or a special font — each symbol is an ordinary Unicode character, so the whole result copies and pastes like any other text.

The numbers on each result follow the same rule: “+4 decoration” is what the frame adds, and “8 total” is the length of the full result. Both count Unicode code points, the unit most text systems use; a few apps count emoji or combined characters differently.

Choosing a decoration for where you will use it

Game nicknames

Name fields in games usually limit length and may reject some characters. Shorter frames leave more room for the name itself. Before using a paid rename card, paste the decorated name into the rename screen and check how it looks.

Social profiles and bios

Display names are often short, while bios have room for longer add-ons. A common pattern is a framed name in the display name and a divider line in the bio.

Why some decorations show as empty boxes

An empty box (sometimes called “tofu”) means the font on that device has no drawing for the character. The text is still correct — it just cannot be displayed there.

  • Characters beyond U+FFFF are the most likely to be missing on older devices: 2 of the 67 frames use them, compared with 56 of the 81 add-ons.
  • Combining marks attach to the character before them and can stack or overlap: 1 frame and 35 add-ons contain them.
  • Emoji are drawn by the device’s emoji font, so they can look different from one phone to another: 1 frame and 34 add-ons include them.

In the second example the letter style changes only the four Latin letters; the frame itself is unchanged. The third example puts the framed name on one line and the divider on the next, the way it would appear in a bio; the line break counts as one character.

Are name decorations images?
No. Every decoration on this page is plain Unicode text — the same kind of characters as letters and emoji. That is why you can copy it and paste it into a game, a profile or a message.
Will a decorated name work in my game?
It depends on which characters and how many characters the game accepts, and games do not all count length the same way. Paste the decorated name into the rename screen first and check the preview before you spend a rename card. Shorter frames without spaces or emoji are the safest starting point.
Why do I see empty boxes instead of symbols?
The font on your device does not include that character. The text itself is still correct, but it cannot be drawn. Try another decoration, or preview it on the device where the name will be shown.
